CINCINNATI -- Nearly 30 people have been charged in several western U.S. cities in connection to a retail theft ring that stole items worth more than $400,000.

In Cincinnati, police are continuing their investigation into thefts at high-end retailer Saks Fifth Avenue. In July, a group of thieves snatched expensive purses from the store.

That followed another theft at Saks last December, when a vancrashed through the front of the same downtown Cincinnati store. The thieves then made off with about $11,000 worth of purses, police said.

Cincinnati police said they don't believe the arrests out west are related to the thefts here, but the thefts here did sound like ones that happened in Chicago and Indianapolis. They're still reviewing the surveillance video to identify who was responsible.
