CINCINNATI — "One always dies too soon," Jean-Paul Sartre, the French existentialist, opined many years ago, and he probably didn't have the restaurant named after him in Over-the-Rhine in mind when he said it.

Sartre OTR, a contemporary French brasserie in the south corner of the Rhinegeist Brewery building at Elm Street and Eaton Place, is set to close on Jan. 1, 2020, a little more than two years after it opened in September, 2017.

"We are very grateful for the love and support from not only our guests, but from all the hard-working farmers and craftsmen that kept us supplied with inspiration," read a Facebook post on the restaurant's page.

The restaurant staff also mention in the post that they have plans for the space for 2020, but they don't say what those plans are.
