One person dead after shooting involving a Metro bus

CINCINNATI — Cincinnati Police are investigating a fatal shooting at the intersection of Dana Ave. and Reading Rd. Saturday night.

Police said 21-year-old Neko Larkin was shot while on a Metro bus Saturday around 9 p.m. The Metro bus drove to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where police closed down the entrance to the ER.

Brandy Jones with Metro confirmed to WCPO that the shooting involved a Metro bus.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and his family and all those involved in last night's tragic and senseless act of violence," reads a statement from Metro interim CEO Darryl Haley on Twitter. "We applaud the bravery and actions of our operator in quickly getting himself and our passengers out of harm's way and seeking medical attention for the injured. The safety and security of our employees and customers are our greatest priority. We are assisting the Cincinnati Police Department in every way we can."

According to police, there is no indication the Metro bus was the target of the shooting; officials said there was an exchange of gunfire in the area when the bus was struck.

Cincinnati Police said suspect information in unknown at this time, but that there is no active threat to the local area.
