MOUNT AIRY, Ohio — One person is dead after a shooting early Friday morning at a Mount Airy apartment.
Police say three masked men tried to rob an apartment around 3 a.m. Friday in the 2300 block of West North Bend Road. The homeowner shot one suspect before calling for help. The suspect was taken to the hospital but died during transport.
Police identified the deceased as 27-year-old Damien Smith.

Police continue to look for information that could lead to the two would-be robbers who escaped. The investigation by the Homicide Unit is ongoing.
