CINCINNATI -- A motorcyclist was hospitalized in critical condition Saturday after he hit a turning car.

Jeffrey Courtney, 44, was driving a 1998 Harley Davidson Electra Glide motorcycle north on Vine Street behind a 2007 Honda Civic at about 12:45 p.m. The car was making a left turn into a private drive when Courtney went left of center and struck the car, according to police.

Courtney was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and suffered critical injuries, police said. He was driven to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he remained in critical condition Saturday evening.

Neither excessive speed nor impairment appeared to be factors in the crash, police said.

The incident was still under investigation. Police asked any witnesses to call the Traffic Unit at 513-352-2514.
