CINCINNATI -- Labor Day weekend can be a time for rowdy, end-of-summer parties, but it's been mostly smooth sailing along the Ohio River this year.
The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, patrolling the river since Saturday, has issued few citations to boaters and made no arrests.
Deputies have seen fewer and fewer boaters operating while intoxicated, too.
The patrols do offer safety checks, making sure equipment is in order and boats are up to code.
"That's free -- we offer that to everybody," Sgt. Steve Raker said. "We just make sure people are operating in a safe manner."
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources issued five citations for OUIs Monday and made 152 stops total.
