CINCINNATI -- What's better than a short stack of buttery pancakes? Free pancakes!

All Tri-State IHOP locations are offering just that from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday for National Pancake Day. Visitors who dine in will be treated to a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes. All IHOP asks in return is that patrons consider leaving a small donation for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals or other designated local charities.

Cincinnati Children's Hospital, along with Dayton Children's Hospital and Lexington Children's Hospital, are part of the Children's Miracle Network.

This is the 11th year IHOP has participated in the event, raising nearly $20 million to support charities in local communities. The company's goal for 2016 is to raise $3.5 million for charity.

Here's a map of local IHOP locations:

If you're unable to make today's National Pancake Day, you can celebrate belatedly in Oxford at Hueston Woods 50th annual Maple Syrup Festival. It's not free, but $6 for adults and $5 for children buys you all-you-can eat pancakes from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 12 and 13 at the Hueston Woods Lodge.

You can then carry on your love for all things lumberjack by going on a maple syrup tour from noon to 4 p.m. with a hike through the state park and demonstrations on the art of maple syrup production.
