CINCINNATI -- A fire at a recycling center has closed both directions of Kellogg Avenue Monday morning, according to Cincinnati Fire and EMS.

The fire broke out at the Cohen recycling center at 4538 Kellogg Avenue at about 4:18 a.m. Monday. Kellogg Avenue is closed between Salem Road and Wilmer Avenue.

Crews had knocked down most of the fire by 4:43 a.m., but crews will need to use an excavator to ensure the fire is totally out, EMS officials said.

Officials said at about 5:20 a.m. that crews will be on the scene “for quite a while.”
