CINCINNATI -- Impairment and speed were considered factors in a crash that left a driver dead early Saturday, according to police.

Paul Jessen, 56, was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze northbound on Paddock Road near Laidlaw Avenue in Bond Hill at about 1:09 a.m. when the car went left of center, struck a utility pole and caught fire, police said.

Jessen was critically injured and died at the scene.

A 47-year-old passenger riding with Jessen also suffered serious injuries in the crash. He was driven to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he remained in serious but stable condition, police said Tuesday.

The Traffic Unit is still investigating the crash. Police asked any witnesses to call them at 513-352-2514.
