CINCINNATI -- A driver was hospitalized in critical condition after her car went off the road and turned over.

The crash happened on Winton Road north of Kings Run Drive at about 10:47 a.m. Tuesday, according to police. The driver, who has not yet been identified, was driving southbound and went left of center. She overcorrected, and went off the right side of the road, where her 2006 Kia Optima struck a pole and a building before overturning.

The driver was trapped in the car and firefighters had to extricate her.

It did not appear that she had worn a seatbelt, police said. They believed excessive speed to be a factor.

The woman was driven to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where she remained in critical condition Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

Police and hospital staff were working to identify the driver. She appeared to be in her 30s, police said.

The crash was still under investigation. Police asked any witnesses to call the Traffic Unit at 513-352-2514.
