CINCINNATI -- To the dismay of many downtown denizens and workers, the Servatii pastry shop on Court Street is closing.

The company will officially close the shop at 41 E. Court St. on Dec. 18.

Servatii manager Mary Von Bargen said that with three stores downtown and Court Street’s lease coming up, it made since to close the store.

“It frees us up to look at other venues such as Northern Kentucky,” Von Bargen said.

The store saw some bad luck in December 2014 as well when a truck crashed through the front of the building. The store had to close for a couple weeks while crews repaired the damage.

The bakers said many of their customers are sad but they can still be served at the other two downtown Servatii locations.

All the Court Street staff will be keeping their jobs too. Von Bargen said those staff members will move to the Fountain Square location to help keep up with deliveries.

The move isn’t without a sweet side though. On Dec. 18, patrons can get a free pretzel stick and a cupcake as a thank you while supplies last.

The other two downtown locations can be found at:

  • Fountain Square, 511 Walnut St., 6:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Scripps, 312 Walnut St., 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
