CINCINNATI – Crime Stoppers has a new app – part of a overhauled process for reporting tips to police.

The old SMS text tips have gone away, replaced by a new web-based reporting system that allows tipsters to text and upload photos and video directly from their phone.

There’s also a new process for submitting tips online at the Crime-Stoppers.us website. It’s now connected to a worldwide reporting system.

To download the app or report a tip online, go to http://crime-stoppers.us/submit-a-tip/

Tips are still welcomed by phone at  513-352-3040.

All communication is still done anonymously, according to a Crime Stoppers release.

The new system, called P3Tips, was developed by Anderson Software of Texas, Crime Stoppers says.

Here’s how it works:

Once a person submits a tip, he or she will be given a TIP ID and password. Then they can log in directly at P3Tips.comand submit follow-up information, engage in real-time chat/two-way dialogue, learn the outcome of the tip, and access any pertinent reward information, the release said.
