CINCINNATI – A Cincinnati resident won $5 million off a Mega Fortune instant lottery ticket, state lottery officials announced Friday.

Alvin Ross and Valerie Ross bought the last $20 ticket left in the vending machine at the Kroger at 1212 W. Kemper Road in Forest Park, according to the announcement.

The couple opted to take the cash option. Taxes will narrow the winnings to $1,775,000. Kroger will receive a $10,000 agent-selling bonus.

Alvin Ross said they had been taking care of Valerie’s mother and their daughter, who had to move home after a bad car crash. They plan to buy a house.
