Bengals, Freestore team up for food drive

CINCINNATI -- If you’re heading to the Cincinnati Bengals game Monday, don’t forget to bring along some canned food items.

The team is hosting a food drive to help feed people across the Tri-State this year.

Any cans or cash donations will be given to the Freestore Foodbank to help with their distribution drive.

Volunteers said they hope the excitement over the Bengals’ perfect season will help boost donations.

“One in six of our neighbors in the Tri-State is at risk of hunger and 100,000 of them are children so it's really important to get them the nutritious food they need to succeed in life,” organizer Sarah Cook said.

This is the 29th year the pair have teamed up to help make sure no one goes hungry.

Organizers said they got enough donations last year to whip up 57,000 meals.

Freestore Foodbank volunteers will be outside the stadium Monday night to collect those donations.
