CINCINNATI -- A pedestrian died Friday night in Avondale after an SUV hit him and drove off, according to police.
Capt. Dennis Swingley, of the Cincinnati Police Department, said an officer found a man lying in the street near the corner of Reading Road and Clinton Springs Avenue around 10:25 p.m. Despite the efforts of police and fire officials, he died at the scene.
CPD's Traffic Unit identified the victim as Walter Oliver, 53.
Swingley said police believe an older model, dark-colored SUV hit Oliver. It was possibly a GMC Yukon or Chevrolet Tahoe, according to the Traffic Unit.
