CINCINNATI -- Police identified Immanuel Scott, 20, as the young man who they said was shot and then driven to Cincinnati Children's Hospital where he died Friday night.

Capt. Russ Neville said someone drove Scott to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. He succumbed to gunshot injuries before police arrived at the hospital.

Scott's friends told police he was shot on Alaska Avenue, where police were looking for a crime scene late Friday night.

Neville said officers were not able to find any physical evidence of the shooting, though neighbors reported hearing a shot or two fired.

Saturday, religious leaders pleaded for the community to end violence like Scott's shooting. They rallied near the Alaska Avenue Apartments where Scott's friends said he was shot.

"We wanted to let the residents of this apartment building, and anyone that can hear us, know that we are here, we really want people to take in consideration it is time to stop the violence," Pastor Ennis Tait said.

Anyone with information that could assist the homicide investigation is asked to call Cincinnati Police's Criminal Investigation Section at 513-352-3542 or Crimestoppers at 513-352-3040 or text "CINTIP" and your message to CRIMES (274637). Callers can remain anonymous.
