CINCINNATI -- An Aurora, Ind., firefighter is dead after a crash this weekend.
Officers said 39-year-old Jason Richardson died in a head-on crash on Saturday. He was not on duty at the time.
The multi-crash event happened Saturday at about 1:30 p.m. in the 7400 block of Woodspoint Drive.
Investigators said first crash happened when a Chevy Silverado driven by 47-year-olld William Stanton, of Erlanger, Ky., struck a Ford Taurus that was coming out of World of Golf.
The Taurus’ driver, Timothy Bandelow, of Erlanger, and his passenger, April Connor, of Cincinnati, suffered minor injuries and were taken to St. Elizabeth of Florence.
Police said Stanton continued on north and struck a Ford Crown Victoria driven by Richardson.
Richardson died at the scene and his passenger, Marquea Schwing, suffered serious injuries and was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
Stanton suffered minor injuries and was taken St. Elizabeth Florence. Police said tests showed he was under the influence of a controlled substance at the time but toxicology reports are pending.
Stanton is in custody facing manslaughter charges in connection with the crash. He faces charges including: manslaughter, criminal mischief, assault and operation a vehicle under the influence.
Richardson served as a firefighter with the Aurora Fire Department since 2008. Richardson’s colleagues put together a memorial at the station in his honor.
