ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A Cheviot man was arrested and suspected narcotics were discovered in his car after he led state troopers on a chase down Interstate 275 early Friday morning, police said.

Police said this began when troopers tried to stop 31-year-old Matthew Dotterman for driving his 2004 Infinity sedan through a red light at 3:21 a.m. at I-275 and Five Mile Road.

Dotterman did not stop and drove westbound on I-275, police said. Hamilton County Sheriff's deputies attempted to use stop sticks, but Dotterman swerved to avoid them. Also, a state trooper unsuccessfully attempted to stop Dotterman by ramming his vehicle with a cruiser.

Dotterman eventually brought his car to a stop on I-275 near Kellogg Road and then backed into a Hamilton County Sheriff cruiser. He was taken into custody without further incident and the suspected narcotics were found inside his car.

Tow trucks took away the cruiser, reopening all lanes of the freeway at about 5:30 a.m.

The incident remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Dotterman was transported to Anderson Mercy Hospital as a precaution, and charges will be filed when the investigation is completed.
