FAIRFIELD, Ohio — The city of Fairfield wants to get younger.

Hoping to draw more young professionals to the area, the city hired one to help make that happen.

Brittany Theilman, just 25, is still getting acquainted with her new job as community events coordinator, a position that had been vacant for three years.

Part of her job is organizing popular concert series like Groovin on the Green and Fourth Fridays.

“I think I bring a fresh, new perspective to the already established events,” Theilman said.

Theilman started this month after working a similar job in Blue Ash. She already sees an advantage in her new spot.

“It’s much larger geographically and Fairfield has a lot more parks and resources of that nature,” she said.

One challenge for Theilman will be booking musical acts to perform at Village Green. She wants them to draw a younger crowd, but also needs them to appeal to a wider audience.

“For the Thursday nights, it’s not just a one-genre type of concert series. I like to spread it out to all different types of genres,” she said.

In her first year on the job, Theilman does not plan to make any major changes, but will be working closely with her team to come up with new ways to attract a younger crowd.

“I kind of can start my own fresh way with my past experiences and develop something,” she said.
