Deputies shoot, kill dog at apartment fire in Franklin Township

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Deputies shot and killed a dog that attacked another dog at the scene of an apartment fire Thursday afternoon, the Journal-News reported.

Firefighters reported light smoke coming from a unit in the 8700 block of Dayton-Oxford Road around noon.

When firefighters opened the door, a large dog ran out past firefighters and began attacking another dog, investigators said.

Deputies shot the dog to stop the attack, according to officials.

The fire was contained to one unit. There were no injuries, but occupants will be displaced, according to firefighters.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
