BATAVIA TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Clermont County deputies arrested a man Friday who they said stabbed another man while attempting to steal a backpack from the victim.

Frank Wolffram, 37, of Union Township stabbed the 57-year-old victim in the 2200 block of Bauer Road in Batavia Township at about 1:17 p.m., deputies said in a news release.

Deputies arrived on the scene within minutes and caught Wolffram. They said the attack appeared to be unprovoked.

The victim was stabbed multiple times. He was driven to University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment. Deputies said he's in "stable condition."

Wolffram is charged with felonious assault. He's being held in the Clermont County Jail with a bond hearing set for Monday morning.

Deputies said the prosecutor's office will review the case and may present it to a grand jury for additional charges.
