SPRINGDALE, Ohio — Surveillance cameras recorded a vicious beating Monday around 11:30 a.m. in the Walgreens parking lot on Northland Blvd. in Springdale.

The video shows two suspects repeatedly punching and kicking a man. The incident lasted nearly a minute.

"This is a particularly brutal attack and it appears to be random," said Springdale police spokesman Keenan Riordan. "The victim suffered some pretty severe injuries. He had broken ribs, a punctured lung and a broken nose."

Riordan said the suspects first approached the victim outside a gas station across the road from Walgreens.

They asked the victim to buy them a cigar, according to Riordan. But the victim refused, then walked to the Walgreens.

Riordan said when the victim walked out of the Walgreens, the suspects spoke to him for a few seconds then attacked him.

"We want to get the video out there. We want to get these guys identified and arrested," said Riordan.

Riordan said the victim walked away from his attackers, then called 911 and was taken to a hospital.

The video doesn't provide a clear image of the suspects' faces, but Riordan said one of them has distinctive hair, which investigators hope will be recognized by someone who knows him.

If you have information about the incident or the suspects, Springdale police ask you to call them at (513) 346-5760, or call Crimestoppers at (513) 352-3040.
