Newport schools get free nurse services

NEWPORT, Ky. – The Christ Hospital of Cincinnati is partnering with Newport Independent Schools to provide a nurse practitioner who will care for students district-wide.

Laura Huss, a nurse practitioner employed by The Christ Hospital, started providing provide health and wellness services to all four school locations within Newport Independent Schools Monday. The services include school and sports physicals, immunizations and sick visits. All services are provided free of charge to students.

Kim Weaver, the district's school nurse, said Huss will work Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from Newport Middle School. She will be available to district staff as well.
