Authorities ID driver in crash involving bus carrying Covington Catholic students

CALIFORNIA, Ky. — Authorities have identified the man who died in a crash on the AA Highway on Saturday,according to the Campbell County Police Department.

Authorities said 39-year-old Eric Clos, of Brooksville, was driving southbound in the northbound lane when he hit a charter bus carrying Covington Catholic High School students at about 6:55 a.m. near California Crossroads.

Clos was trapped in his car; he died at the scene, police said.

First responders transported the driver of the bus and two passengers to a local hospital for minor injuries.

The Diocese of Covington released the following statement after the crash:

"This morning, a bus carrying students and chaperones home from the March for Life in Washington, DC was involved in an accident. EMT personnel and the Campbell County police have been at the scene and are handling the matter. Please join us in praying for everyone involved in this accident."

Campbell County’s Major Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating.
