WEST CHESTER TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Multiple agencies responded to a house fire Saturday evening after ammunition exploded in the basement, according to West Chester Township Assistant Fire Chief Steve Oughterson.
The fire started at about 6:30 p.m. at 7478 Cincinnati Dayton Road, Oughterson said. The home is a total loss, but the family made it out safely. A firefighter suffered a minor injury and was treated on scene.
Neighbors opened up their homes to first responders so they could have relief from the cold. Cincinnati Dayton Road was closed as first responders cleared the scene.
Six fire departments assisted the West Chester Township Fire Department in the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
