WEST CHESTER TWP., Ohio -- Authorities who were alerted to a wildly swerving vehicle on I-75  Monday evening arrived at the scene to find a father and son who had both overdosed on heroin while the father drove.

Kenneth Partin Sr., 56, and his son Kenneth Patrin Jr., 31, were unconscious and unresponsive when Ohio State Highway Patrol officers found their vehicle on the median near mile post 18 in West Chester Township, according to a news release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol. All of the vehicle’s doors were locked.

The state trooper who responded to the call broke the rear driver’s side window to get inside the vehicle and remove the two men. West Chester Emergency Response Services arrived on scene and administered Narcan to the pair before transporting them to West Chester Hospital.

Father and son both recovered from the overdose, authorities said. Kenneth Partin Sr. was then charged with OVI and possession of drug paraphernalia.

This dramatic incident arrived on the heels of a week in which local overdose rates spiked dramatically; although those numbers have dropped since last week’s disturbing highs, Tri-State law enforcement officers continue to respond to overdose calls every single day.
