Train strikes pedestrian in Middletown

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- A Middletown man has been transported to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton after being struck by a train near First Avenue and University Boulevard early Friday afternoon in Middletown.

Police report that pedestrian Garner Wayne Stephens, 47, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. After waiting for a northbound train to clear the intersection, Stephens crossed the railroad track and was struck by a southbound train. Conductors of both trains told police they blew their horns and yelled at Stephens as they approached the intersection.

The accident remains under investigation.
