MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Jami Felton thinks the bike-riding man who snatched her wallet outside of Marsh Supermarket Thursday night was waiting -- not for her specifically, but for someone he knew wouldn’t put up a fight.
At eight months pregnant, with her 5-year-old daughter in one hand and her wallet in the other, Felton fit the bill.
“He put his hand on my wallet, and I said, ‘Oh, please, don’t do it,’” she said.
He did it, making off with her child support card, SNAP benefit card and driver’s license in the process.
Although police have not verified a connection between the cases, they’ve received reports of similar crimes committed by a bike-riding thief over the course of the last week: One outside of Little Chicago Pub on Saturday and another in Smith Park, where police said the suspect stole $200 from an 83-year-old man.
Felton said the incident upset her daughter and left their family fearful of going out after dark.
“I feel violated,” she said. “I didn’t deserve that to happen. No one deserves that to happen.”
Police requested that anyone with information about the thefts call them at 513-425-7700.
