MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Middletown police found a 13-year-old Summit Academy student brought an airsoft pellet gun to school Friday.
The school was locked down for a short time after police received a report of a juvenile pointing a possible weapon at a car that drove by, police said in a news release.
The student was charged in Butler County Juvenile Court with illegal conveyance of weapons, drugs or other prohibited items onto grounds of detention facility or institution, a fifth-degree felony, and inducing panic, a misdemeanor.
The student was released to a parent. Police said the school will also be handling its own internal investigation.
