MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- A car crashed into a mobile home Friday afternoon, and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred at about 12:32 p.m. on Aspen Street in Riverside Village Trailer Park, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. A maroon 1999 Oldsmobile Alero driven by 52-year-old Timothy Perkins was traveling eastbound when it went off the left side of the road and struck a mobile home.

The car's engine compartment caught fire after the crash, troopers said.

First-responders found Perkins unconscious. He was pulled from the vehicle, and then pronounced dead at the scene by Middletown EMS, troopers said.

The incident was still under investigation.
