LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A Cincinnati man was killed in a crash on state Route 129 Monday afternoon.

George Hughes, 49, was driving a 2003 BMW 745I east on state Route 129 at about 12:27 p.m. when the car went off the right side of the road and hit a fence and a tree near mile marker 22, according to a news release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers believe alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the crash, they said.

Hughes was taken to West Chester Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

A passenger in the car, 47-yeah-old Philip Murry, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Butler County coroner. Both men had been wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, according to troopers.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was still investigating the incident.
