Softball tournament to benefit fight against alcohol addiction

HAMILTON, Ohio -- A local woman who lost her mother to alcoholism is taking action and raising awareness with a softball tournament on Saturday.

Jordan Stockelman's mother, Julie, was only 40 years old when she lost her battle with alcoholism five years ago. That's what prompted Jordan to start the "I Love You More Than You Know" campaign, to bring people's attention to a disease she says too often goes unnoticed.

As the campaign's first official event, Stockelman has organized a softball tournament for Saturday, July 9 at North End Athletic Field on Joe Nuxhall Boulevard in Hamilton.

Stockelman said the group has already raised $5,000 worth of donated raffle prizes, and, while it's too late to organize a team, there are other ways to help, Stockelman said. Learn more here, and hear more from Stockelman in the video below:
