HAMILTON, Ohio -- A Hamilton woman is behind bars and facing a felony charge after allegedly stabbing her fiance with five children present at their home, according to the Journal-News.
Tresha Deshay Shakir, 19, of the 900 block of South Ninth, is charged with domestic violence and felonious assault for allegedly stabbing Nathan Nelson in the torso Saturday.
Police responded to the couple’s residence about 4:25 p.m. and found Nelson lying at the front door with Shakir standing over him, according to the police report.
Shakir admitted to stabbing Nelson, according to police.
Nelson was transported by medical helicopter to University of Cincinnati Hospital Medical Center, where he was later released, according to police.
The couple have two children together and there were five children present when the stabbing occurred, according to police.
Hamilton Police Officer Justin Boyd responded to the scene and took care of all five children until they could be placed by Children Services.
“He kicked into ‘dad mode’ taking care of two infants and three pre-teens for at least three hours,” Hamilton Police Sgt. Brian Robinson told the Journal-News.
Boyd and the children created artwork while coloring in the police station’s squad room, he said.
Shakir was arraigned Monday in Hamilton Municipal Court, where bond was set at $50,000. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Friday.
