HAMILTON, Ohio -- Police and fire officials are warning people about fake donation accounts popping up in the wake of Hamilton firefighter Patrick Wolterman's death.

Members of IAFF Local 20 firefighters union said they have gotten calls from residents reporting solicitation for donations from suspicious callers.

Members of the union said the legitimate fundraisers will not call and solicit donations.

"I lost a brother. My fellow firefighters, we lost a brother," said Brian Ruhl of Hamilton Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 20. "We do want anybody preying on our brother or our loss. It sickens me."

Hamilton City Manager Joshua Smith said donations in support of Wolterman's family can be made at any First Financial Bank. The only other approved site is the GoFundMe Page created by Landon Watts, Wolterman's cousin.
