FAIRFIELD TWP., Ohio – Police seized more than four pounds of marijuana and made two arrests after a traffic stop last week, according to Fairfield Twp. Police Chief Math Fruchey.

It started early Friday when officers stopped a pickup truck for fictitious plates on Route 4 near Millikin. They found a half pound of marijuana inside, Fruchey said.

Derek Payne was arrested and charged with trafficking in marijuana and obstructing official business. Another occupant, Jeffrey Paynter,  was arrested for carrying a loaded .38-caliber handgun. Joshua Wendt was issued a citation for fictitious plates.

The investigation led Fairfield Twp. officers and agents from the Butler County Undercover Regional Narcotics Unit to 1451 Park Ave. in Hamilton. They seized approximately four pounds of marijuana there along with mushrooms and a large amount of paraphernalia.
