FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Fairfield Township Police Chief Matt Fruchey resigned after township officials gave him until June to leave.

Fruchey told WCPO news partner the Journal-News that township officials "want to make a change, and I'm ready for a change."

Board of Trustees President Susan Berding told the Journal-News, "It has been a pleasure working with him and we wish him the best in the future endeavor."

Fruchey was appointed as chief in 2013.
