One person is dead after a rear-end collision in Boone County Saturday morning.
Boone County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to northbound I-71/I-75 at the 175.9 mile marker for reports of a crash with injuries at 1:00 a.m. Saturday morning.
Investigators said Franklin A. Morales Temaj, 26, and Ingrid Mendez, 26, were traveling northbound when their Honda stalled and stopped on the highway. A Chrysler was also traveling north and rear-ended the stalled Honda, pushing it into the concrete barrier.
A tractor-trailer was traveling in the second lane and struck Hess’ Chrysler after the initial collision.
Temaj was pronounced dead at the scene. Hess was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence with non-life threatening injuries.
