HEBRON, Ky. -- Two people were killed and two others were hospitalized in a single-vehicle crash Saturday night.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office said Rama Varahabhatla, 35, was driving north on North Bend Road when he lost control in a curve near River Road. His car went off the road, went airborne, overturned and hit a tree in an embankment.

Back-seat passenger Benkat Prashant Kommu, 27, was thrown from the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Raja Sakar Reddy Yarmala, 25, was riding in the front seat. He was trapped, and Hebron firefighters had to remove him from the car before a medical helicopter took him to University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Yarmala died of his injuries early Sunday morning.

Anvesh Kumar, 24, riding in the back seat, also was taken to UCMC, but his injuries weren't life threatening.

Varahabhatla was taken to St. Elizabeth's Hospital Florence; his injuries aren't considered life-threatening.

All four people in the car were from Louisville.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office said no charges have been filed against Varahabhatla, who is cooperating with the investigation. The sheriff's office said its Accident Reconstruction Unit is working to determine the cause of the crash.
