FLORENCE, Ky. -- It took three days for the family of a rollover crash victim to find his body, according to police.

Diego Suarez Sanchez, a 25-year-old Florence man, died in a crash on I-75 southbound around 2:20 a.m. Dec. 10, according to Capt. Tom Grau of the Florence Police Department, but the impact was so severe that his body was flung far from the site of the crash and hidden by a patch of cattails.

Two other men were in the car at the time of the crash, police said, but did not indicate that there had been a third occupant.

Sanchez's family reported him missing Sunday and patrolled the highway near the crash site every day after, Grau said.

"He's big on Facebook, and if he's not posting something, then they feared the worst and obviously they found out that's exactly what happened," Major Tom Sheben of the Boone County Sheriff's Office said.

Sanchez's family found his body under some brush and cattails Tuesday.

Now deputies are working to figure out who else was in the car.

"It's unusual," Sheben said.
