FLORENCE, Ky. -- A man was arrested after police said he left a 1-year-old child in a locked car during Sunday’s extremely high temperatures.
According to Florence Police Capt. Tom Grau, police responded to a report Sunday afternoon of a small child crying inside a vehicle parked in a Wal-Mart parking lot. Officers arrived and retrieved the child.
Police said the child was hot and perspiring but also conscious and responsive when officers arrived.
Police said 21-year-old Temaj Baldemar and an unnamed, teenage female were supposed to be watching the child at the time.
Police charged Baldemar with second degree criminal abuse of a child. Grau could not immediately comment on charges for the female, as police worked to determine her age.
No other information was immediately available.
