FLORENCE, Ky. — Crews are investigating the cause of a restaurant fire that sent clouds of smoke billowing into the Florence sky Saturday morning.
Only a small prep staff was inside Acapulco Mexican Restaurant when the fire started, Florence fire chief Scott Knoll said; outside, a construction crew was working on the building’s roof.
The construction workers noticed the smoke first. Both groups evacuated, Knoll said, and firefighters arrived around 10 a.m.
By then, the fire was so intense that they could only attempt to douse it from the outside. The fire had been extinguished by noon.
No one was injured by the blaze. Knoll said the source of the fire remained under investigation.
