BURLINGTON, Ky. -- A driver died Sunday night after he drove off the road and into an embankment, according to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said 48-year-old Donald W. Attebery, of Petersburg, was traveling westbound on Burlington Pike near Botts Lane at about 9:36 p.m. when he drove off the right side of the road into an embankment. The vehicle overturned, and Attebery was partially ejected.
Attebery was dead at the scene. Authorities closed Burlington Pike at Botts for hours as they investigated.

Speed and wet roads appear to be factors in the crash. It's not yet known whether drugs or alcohol were factors. The Boone County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Unit is handling the investigation.
