BURLINGTON, Ky. — The Burlington Fire Protection District is mourning the loss of Sergeant Andy Kucher, who died Thursday.
An official cause of death has not been announced, but the district said in a news release that Kucher recently had surgery due to an injury he sustained on the job.
According to the district, Kucher started volunteering for the department in 2007, was hired as a firefighter and paramedic in 2012 and was promoted to sergeant in 2016. Before his career in fire service, Kucher served in the US Navy.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
