GOSHEN TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A popular church preacher was killed when his bicycle was hit by a pickup truck in the 6900 block of Goshen Road Wednesday morning.

Carl Justice, 68, of Goshen, was a preacher at Butlerville Church of God. Pastor Robert Hughes said he knew Justice for 51 years and described him as his right-hand man and best friend.

"I hope people remember him as a man of god who really cared about people - everybody, " Hughes told WCPO. "It didn't matter who they were. Didn't matter what color they were. Didn't matter their walk in life, how far they had fallen. Carl stood right there to help pull them up. He was just that kind of man."

Justice was riding his bike in the wrong lane of traffic, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Justice was riding north in the southbound lane. The driver, 36-year-old William W. Bradshaw of Loveland, Ohio, was southbound and went into the northbound lane to go around the bicycle.

The collision occurred in the northbound lane, according to an OSHP release.

Justice was pronounced dead at Bethesda North Hospital. Bradshaw declined medical treatment at the scene.

The crash happened at approximately 11:13 a.m. between Stumpy Lane and Huntley Road, according to the Highway Patrol. The road was closed while police investigated.

The Highway Patrol is heading the investigation.
