WINTERSVILLE, Ohio — Ohio's first medical marijuana dispensary will open this week, but it's not close to Cincinnati.

Cresco Labs' CY+ Dispensary will open to prescription-holding customers at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the Steubenville area. That's about an hour west of Pittsburgh.

It was the first of the state's 56 dispensaries to receive final approval.

The company said in a news release Monday that it's "anticipating a significant number of patients that have been looking to medical marijuana for relief" when the dispensary opens. Patients going on Wednesday should expect "longer than average wait times."

Thousands of patients are already registered for medical marijuana in Ohio.
