INDIANAPOLIS -- Fully cooked chicken salad shipped to stores in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana may contain tree nuts that are not listed on the label, according to a release from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Caito Foods, LLC., based in Indianapolis, recalled 242 pounds of its “Derby City Chicken Salad Without Walnuts.” Tree nuts, a known allergen, are not declared on the product label, according to the USDA.

  • Produced on Aug. 31, 2018
  • Lot code: GHMW 243 03
  • Sell by date: Sept. 4, 2018
  • Establishment number: P-39985

A complaint from a customer alerted the company to the mislabeled items. The company has not been alerted to any adverse reactions or illnesses.

Anyone who bought the product and also has concerns about an allergic reaction should throw the product away, or return the product to the place of purchase.
