A not-so-obvious hazard at your Super Bowl party

CINCINNATI -- Super Bowl parties often get derailed when someone has a bit too much to drink, but the Cincinnati Children's Hospital is warning Tri-State viewers of Sunday's big game of another hazard you might not have considered while gathering around the television.

Flat-screen TVs are easy to tip over, especially with little kids around. More than 17,000 children are treated each year in emergency rooms across the United States for injuries related to television tip-overs, according to a 2013 study from the American Association of Pediatrics.

Kids under five made up the majority of accidents, and nearly three-quarters of those injuries occurred when a TV fell onto the child.

Doctors and experts at the Comprehensive Children's Injury Center at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital are reminding parents to ensure their TVs are properly placed and safely secured. See the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Change the Outcome blog for more details on how to keep your kids safe during Sunday night's game.
