COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio's state treasurer says only two tax payments have been made using bitcoin through the recently-launched option to pay taxes using the cryptocurrency.

Republican Treasurer Robert Sprague spoke Tuesday about the bitcoin payment option set up under predecessor Josh Mandel. Cleveland.com reports Sprague says the treasurer's office has only received two tax payments through OhioCrypto.com, the state's bitcoin payment platform.

Sprague says officials are reviewing how the program might be curtailed or expanded. A state spokesman declined to specify the value of the payments, saying individual tax information is confidential.
