CINCINNATI -- Some 35,000 students will arrive at Cincinnati Public Schools Wednesday morning by crossing busy streets, and school officials are asking drivers to make sure they get there safely despite the extra traffic on roads and sidewalks.

Police say most crashes happen on streets with speed limits less than 35 miles per hour and ask that drivers pay attention on residential streets where kids will be walking and getting picked up by buses.

Police also remind drivers that most injuries to kids walking happen outside of crosswalks, so they want drivers to be cognizant that children may not always be crossing where they are supposed to be crossing.
