CINCINNATI — Children now have access to books for summer reading at nine Cincinnati recreation centers.

The Literacy Network of Greater Cincinnati and Cincinnati Recreation Commission unveiled a new Little Free Libraries location at the Millvale Recreation Center this week.

The program utilizes a “take a book, read a book,” honor system, and encourages kids to read all year long.

“During the summer months, students’ reading time often declines,” said CRC Director Daniel Betts. “Our hope is that the Little Free Libraries at our CRC location will provide unlimited access to books and encourage children to become life-long readers.”

Little Free Libraries are also located at the following CRC locations:

  • Leblond
  • Sayler Park
  • Evanston
  • Mt. Washington
  • Dunham
  • Hartwell
  • McKie
  • Bond Hill

All books are provided by the Literacy Network of Greater Cincinnati. Grants made it possible for the organization to purchase 50 Little Free Libraries, according to a news release.
